The Institute of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics runs a newsserver, which can be accessed in many different ways within the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel.
Attention: This service is only available at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel. It is not a public service, sorry!
We can offer you a newsfeed, NNTP access, or maybe even an account on one of our machines to read news.
If your domain has been registered with us (currently we allow NNTP access from the following domains:
ang-physik.uni-kiel.de bwl.uni-kiel.de cul-ipn.uni-kiel.de experimentalphysik.uni-kiel.de ifk-mp.uni-kiel.de ipn.uni-kiel.de min.uni-kiel.de numerik.uni-kiel.de physik.uni-kiel.de pz-oekosys.uni-kiel.de theo-physik.uni-kiel.de tierzucht.uni-kiel.de) then make sure that you host has valid entries in the DNS. If our newsserver can't resolve the IP number, the software will reject (without further explanation) your connection attempt!
However, this offer holds only if you don't have any other access to Usenet News. We won't give you NNTP access or a local account if you have access to Usenet News by other means. It is just too much work, and I do this in my spare time without getting paid.
Please contact news@informatik.uni-kiel.de for further help.
